When a child works hard to accomplish a goal, the reward should be immediate. Sometimes it just doesn’t happen that way. Making it right has no statute of limitations.
In the 1960s, when YMCA Camp Lincoln was an over-night boys camp, a young third grader passed his Flying Fish swim class. This was a remarkable success for a boy who was not a strong swimmer.
On Wednesday, April 17, Southern District YMCA, Camp Lincoln, made sure that boy received his badge. The presentation took place at the combined Exeter Area and Hampton Chambers of Commerce ‘After Hours Mixer,’ hosted by the Portsmouth Country Club and Tobey and Merrill Insurance. The boy, Geoffrey Merrill, was surprised at the event. Geoffrey acknowledged his delight in the YMCA digging out an old Flying Fish badge after all these years. Congratulations!
