On Thursday, October 18, our 15 YMCA School Age Child Care sites celebrated Lights On After School, a national event that highlights the importance of afterschool programs in the lives of children and families throughout the United States. This event was an opportunity for the Southern District YMCA to celebrate the role our School Age Child Care programs play in serving our mission of building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities. Lights On events were held at 10 of our 15 afterschool childcare sites, and we had a total of over 300 families participate. Families attended en masse to eat a healthy dinner, experience games through CATCH Kids Club, our new physical activity program, and participate in a variety of activities. At our Stratham site, families brought pumpkins to carve together. In North Hampton, children organized and put on a talent show for their families. In Exeter, the children showed off the beautiful art they have been creating afterschool by staging their own art show. The students at each site were incredibly creative, and a fun time was had by all!
